D6: Governance, Risk and Responsible Use, 15%

Governance, Risk and Responsible Use is the skill of using Claude within sensible limits. It is worth 15% of the exam and is the third heaviest domain.

What the official description includes:

  • Knowing which uses of AI are appropriate and which are not.
  • Applying data sensitivity, regulatory and privacy considerations before data goes into Claude.
  • Following your organization's AI governance policy.
  • Thinking through the ethical side of AI use.

Key concepts:

  • Appropriate AI use cases.
  • Organizational AI governance policy.

For client-facing roles, this domain asks the question that comes before every prompt: should this information go into Claude at all?

D7: Troubleshooting and Optimization, 10%

Troubleshooting and Optimization is the skill of finding out why Claude's output is weak and fixing it. It is the smallest domain by weight, at 10% of the exam.

What the official description includes:

  • Identifying, diagnosing and resolving problems with prompts that underperform or output that is weak.
  • Changing your approach based on feedback and results.
  • Making workflows more efficient and effective.

The official description puts the aim this way: fix the workflow, not just the one output. If the same problem keeps coming back, the process needs a change.

Key concepts:

  • Adjusting approach from feedback.
  • Optimizing AI workflows for efficiency.

Why the small domain still matters

Domain Weight Ask yourself
D6 Governance, Risk and Responsible Use 15% Is this use allowed, and is this data safe to share?
D7 Troubleshooting and Optimization 10% Why did this go wrong, and what change keeps it from happening again?

At 10%, D7 is the lightest domain. It still sits next to D2 in practice: D2 finds the error in an output, and D7 finds the cause in the process.
